![]() ![]() Some mineral oils are better than others too. ![]() I found the mineral oils break down quicker and there is a noticeable drop in performance at less hours than a good synthetic. Will i notice the difference in my forks?Īnd, think mineral oils in your car/bike engine v's synthetic oils and the benefits. These 4 oils are all same but Viscosity index is greatly different? I have a (very) basic understanding of and viscosity index but i would love to hear some discussion on how these parameters of a particular oil will affect suspension performance. What are the pro's and cons of synth/semi/mineral oils for suspension ? Motorex Racing Fork Oil 2.5 - 4.40.Viscosity index=222Ĭastrol Fork Oil S 5.0, 3.74.Viscosity index=150 Motul "factory line" very light 2.5 - fully 3.5.Viscosity index=112 ![]() Just for the discussion, these are the 4 oils i have easy local access to with similar but they vary a fair bit in viscosity index. So i have been looking at the comparo chart here I have been using the same oil (motul "factory line" very light 2.5wt) in my suspension for a while now, and am considering changing to something else.I have no particular reason to stick with Motul, it is just easy to access from shops around here as is motorex.but i can buy from the castrol distributor hopefully at a better price. ![]()
